Don’t Skip the Ceviche at Camacho Garage

Taqueria meets industrial-chic auto shop. That might be the best way to describe the vibe at Camacho Garage—and that’s exactly what Chef Arturo Franco-Camacho was going for. After all, his inspiration for the restaurant stems from two distinct childhood experiences: cooking in his mother’s kitchen in Mexico and hanging out with his dad at the garage he owned.

Since opening Camacho Garage last year, customers have been flocking here to enjoy the well-heated outdoor dining space and modern Mexican cuisine. Some limited indoor dining is also available, as well as delivery and takeout.

No matter how you choose to enjoy your meal, there’s one dish you should start with, and that’s the cocktail ceviche. Roasted tomato, red onion, and jalapeno bring the spicy and savory flavors to the mix of fresh octopus and shrimp. Then try some of the signature tacos, like the carnitas with pork confit and tomatillo-jalapeno salsa, or the tacos Arabes with Middle Eastern-style steak, Morita salsa, and escabeche. Or take home a meal for the whole family. The carnitas meal, for instance, includes a feast of meat, baked plantains, and house-made tortillas, enough to serve four people.
