From Albania to Naples to New Haven, the four brothers behind Zeneli Pizzeria & Cucina Napoletana have come a long way in their culinary journey. Each of them specialized in a different aspect of cuisine and hospitality. So when they opened their own Italian eatery in August, it quickly started to garner positive reviews from happy customers.
The simple margherita pizza is already a standout dish at the small local trattoria. That’s probably because the kitchen team hand-pulls their own mozzarella cheese in-house, and then drops it in dollops over a thin crust and San Marzano tomato sauce. For the final flourish, they add fresh basil and a light drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. The cheese is really what makes the pizza so special, which is why you can order an appetizer trio of the three signature mozzarella cheeses that the chef crafts in-house. Fresh cheese also factors heavily into almost all of the pasta and pizza dishes on the menu, so it’s practically impossible to miss.
