Since opening its doors three months ago, Pokémoto has made a big splash in the Hamden restaurant scene. Specializing in Hawaiian Poké Bowls, this casual eatery serves up healthy, hearty meals that are packed full of greens, protein, and flavor.
If it's your first visit to the restaurant (or if you're new to poké) Yelp reviewers recommend that you try one of the kitchen's signature bowls. Sweet and spicy shrimp with corn, cilantro, jalapenos, and onion is a popular choice, as is the Hawaiian bowl, which combines ahi tuna with onions, cilantro, shredded nori, and a spicy aioli. If you're feeling more adventurous, consider building your own poké bowl, burrito, or salad. You can go the traditional seafood route (tuna, salmon, or shrimp) or–if you prefer–you can choose chicken or tofu instead. Then simply add your sauces like creamy miso, wasabi aioli, chili garlic oil, or half a dozen others, your mix-ins like mango, edamame, seaweed, or cucumber, and your toppings like wonton crisps, cashews, or avocado.
