Everyone is excited for some amazing Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals coming our way, making for the perfect time to get stocked up with Christmas gifts for items such as televisions, cell phone, clothing, home décor and more. However, in this time for buying, it’s important to not forget about the less fortunate living in our New Haven neighborhood.
Following Cyber Monday is Giving Tuesday, in which we are all encouraged to help out our neighbors and give to those who need it during this holiday season. If you want to get in the holiday spirit, then consider giving to some of these local New Haven charities this Giving Tuesday.
United Way of Greater New Haven, located at 3 70 James St #403, New Haven which is a five minute drive from your 360 State apartment, listens and learns to identify gaps, develops community solutions, activates donors and volunteers, and serves neighbors in need.
If you would like to support those in your New Haven community, you can donate on the United Way of Greater New Haven website as well as volunteer for numerous causes, such as a clean-up project, serving meals and reading to schoolchildren.
Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut, located at 860 Howard Ave, New Haven which is a 20 minute walk from your 360 State apartment, is a temporary “home away from home” for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities, such as the Children’s Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-New Haven Hospital, The Hospital of St. Raphael, Bridgeport Hospital.
Everyone is invited to donate to the Ronald McDonald house through monetary donations which can be done on their website, and volunteering opportunities are also available – they are currently recruiting volunteers to fill a variety of positions.
