October happens to be prime color changing season for leaves as the cool air settles in and Mother Nature braces for winter. Here are some suggestions for our 360 State Street residents looking to explore outside of New Haven and experience some fall foliage.
Mattabesett Trail: Middletown is just minutes from New Haven and where you will find gorgeous views from Mattabesett trail. Part of the New England’s National Scenic Trail, Mattabesett runs for 50 miles! For some viewing of some stunning fall leaves you don’t have to hike all 50 though. The trail is broken into different sections with some of the best views coming from the traprock ridges. You can see from as far north as Hartford all the way to the southern part of the state! If you have a really good eye you may even catch a glimpse of New Haven! Higby Mountain is also a great chance to see the beautiful leaves, and it is located along the trail!
Sleeping Giant State Park: From your 360 State Street apartment, Hamden is just a ten minute drive where some of the best Connecticut fall views can be seen! Sleeping Giant State Park is the location of Stone Tower. If you make the 1.5 mile hike up to the tower, you will get a panorama like view seeing from Hartford to Long Island in New York!
