August 25th, 2016
For the 33rd year in a row a celebration of Jazz music will swarm New Haven’s local parks and the community. Jazz Haven’s 2016 Festival will take place at the end of the month! The Festival day will be held on August 27th, the second day of what organizers are calling Jazz Week which will run from August 26th– September 3rd. This week long celebration will feature some of the best local Jazz music for New Haven residents to enjoy. The festival will take place at numerous locations around the City, most close by to us here at 360 State Street.
The festival aims at exposing Jazz music and culture to the New Haven community. There will be performances, arts and craft vendors, food and other activities throughout the week. The one day Festival will start at 5:45pm and last until 9pm. Three sets are scheduled which include live Jazz music from NMS Premiere Jazz Ensemble, The Mitch Frohman Quartet and The Christian Sands Quartet. To learn more about the groups performing, visit the event’s festival page here.
Jazz week will continue after the festival with local bars, clubs and establishments dedicating the week to featuring Jazz music whether through live performances, the radio or televised. Performances will also take place at local New Haven parks. Some of the local establishments participating in Jazz Haven week that are close by to 360 State Street include Oak Haven Bar just a few minutes up the road on State Street, the New Haven Green which is just a five minute walk away and Fornarelli’s restaurant—even closer and just steps away!
