New Haven Beaches for Summer

With the sweltering hot weather settling in, nothing compares to a nice dip in cool water. If you are looking for a day trip or something beyond your usual beach spot, there are several great beaches around the Connecticut not too far away from 360 State Street! Take a look at this beach guide and see where you can adventure too for some sand and sun this summer.


Lighthouse Point Park is located right here in New Haven, just a fifteen minute drive from 360 State Street! This local beach offers sand along the shore of the Long Island Sound for sunbathing, swimming, boating and other recreational activities. You can also take tours of the local lighthouse and engage in other activities such as a beach volleyball club, ecology club and more! Our residents are lucky because this beach is open until November so when those heat waves roll around mind September, it’s the prefect option for a nice swim and cool down. Sandy Point Beach is just a few more minutes away from 360 State Street in West Haven. This beach is open until Labor Day and goes off of Brandy Point Park. They are located right next to a special bird trail in case you want some other outdoor adventures to par take in on your beach day!


Hammonasset Beach State Park is less than a half hour away from New Haven. This beach is Connecticut’s largest shore line stretching just over 2 miles along the sound. There are concession stands and picnic areas if you want to bring your own lunch located along the beach.
