January 13th, 2016
For all the football lovers in New Haven and 360 State, we are less than a week away from the Walter Camp Foundation Football Weekend. For the 49th year, the nonprofit foundation will honor its newest Walter Camp All-American Team, bringing about 30 former All-American players to the city and hosting community events that will draw thousands of attendees. The Walter Camp team is the longest-running All-American team in the country.
The weekend will be split up into a few different events, starting on Thursday January 14th with the Stay in School Rally, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Hospital Visit, and the Welcome Reception and Dinner.
Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry will be there, as will former Super Bowl MVP and Washington Redskins quarterback Doug Williams. Also attending is Joe Andruzzi, the one-time Southern Connecticut State standout and Super Bowl champion. On January 15th, attendees will have an opportunity to meet and get autographs from top college players and Walter Camp alumni. There are lots of opportunities to rub elbows with some of football’s best.
On January 16th, the VIP Reception, sponsored by Kauffman Associates and Altium Wealth Management, will take place with about 400 celebrity honorees, invited guests and sponsors. Summing the weekend up, that evening the newest All-American team will be honored at a black-tie dinner at Yale Commons.
