For those of us in New Haven, fall is full of opportunities for apples, pumpkins, hay rides, candy-corn and costumes. New England is the best place to be for autumn, and New Haven is no exception to this.
Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market & Winery has some great activities for our residents this fall. Pick your own pumpkins for Halloween and Thanksgiving. The picking season lasts through Halloween, and in addition to pumpkins, the orchard also has mums, corn stalks, gourds, squash, Indian Corn and many activities to enjoy. From scarecrow making and the annual hay maze challenge, enjoy this colorful part of the year! Also, did we mention winery? Bishop’s has a variety of wines and hard ciders for adults to try.
If you’re looking for some Halloween fun, Founders Brewing Co, is hosting a Pumpkin Carving and Halloween Costume Contest on Halloween. Featuring seventeen different beers, the brewery’s Pumpkin Carving Contest starts at 12pm, and is followed by judging at 4pm. The Costume Party begins at 7pm, followed by judging at 9:30pm, with prizes for 1st through 3rd Place. For our beer aficionados out there, the brewery is tapping a different beer each day for a week leading up to this event, so make sure to check it out this month!
